Richard Lee Hurt, age 78 of Dalton, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home in Dalton, NE surrounded by his loved ones. There are no formal services planned at this time. Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE at a later date. Richard was born February 14, 1940 in Pueblo, Co. to Leona Ray. Richard was adopted by his grandparents James and Ida (Prohaska) Hurt and raised in Lorenzo, Nebraska. Richard attended Lorenzo School and helped with the family farm.
Richard married Carol Christensen on October 26, 1970 where they started their lives in Bronson, NE. Later they moved to Dalton, where Richard resided for the rest of his days. They raised their family having one daughter and one son in Dalton. They raised pigs, horses, chickens, and many other animals.
Richard was an avid collector of many things. He enjoyed going to auctions, the lake boating, trains, cars, music and karaoke.
Richard is survived by his ex-wife Carol Christensen and special friend Dan Dvorak of Big Springs, NE; Daughter, Lisa Harvey and special friend Darin Draper of Dalton; Son Aaron Hurt and wife Jessica (Portenier) of Dalton; Grandkids; Brenna & Nate Adams of Gurley, Dara Rhodes & Fiancé Kye Draper of Ogallala, Trey Hurt of Sidney, Darius Hurt of Dalton, and Ayden Hurt of Dalton,. Great-Great-Grandchildren; Avery, August, and Atliegh Adams of Gurley, Skyler and Ryder Draper of Ogallala. Other special family members include Shawn & Danielle Egging and children, and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother Leona Ray and grandparents James and Ida Hurt.
