Deloris Ann Barnhart
Deloris Ann (Smith) Barnhart, age 77 of Sidney, NE passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care. Services will be held Friday, October 25th, 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Sidney, NE with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 24th from 1:00-7:00 P.M with family present from 5:00-6:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in Deloris’ memory to the Salvation Army in Sidney, The First United Methodist Church Care ‘n Share, and the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care.
Deloris was born July 14, 1942 to Merle and Annie P. (Trettenero) Smith in Sidney, NE. She was the youngest of three sisters, including Norma Kaufman and Doris Frerichs. Deloris attended school in Sidney, NE, graduating in 1961. On June 25, 1962, she married Roy Barnhart of Sunol, NE. To this union, three children were born, Brenda, Ben and Kim.
Deloris worked at various places over the years including Prestolite, Cabela’s, and Golden Living Center. In August of 2017, Deloris moved into Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care, where she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and other various activities. She will be best remembered for her generous nature, along with her giving heart, and love for baking, she was always eager to share her favorite recipes.
Deloris is survived by her children; Brenda (Ron) Jessen, Ben Barnhart/Cindy Heilbrun, and Kim (DeWayne) Wolff, all of Sidney, (6) grandchildren; Ashley (Sean) Fehringer of Peetz, CO, Lacey (Clint) Russell of Sidney, Tyler Barnhart of Sidney, Emily and Kaylee Jessen of Lincoln, NE, and Hunter Wolff of Sidney, (3) great grandchildren; Kobe Peterson, of Sidney, NE, Landon Fehringer and Kenley Fehringer of Peetz, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Dorothy and Pete VanRay of Potter, NE, John and Carolyn Barnhart of Sidney, Eddy and Janet Barnhart of North Platte, NE, Marvin Bartling of Lodgepole, NE, Donna Barnhart of Greeley, CO, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; Merle and Annie Smith, husband; Roy Barnhart, (2) sisters and their husbands; Norma & Walter Kaufman and Doris & Dareld Frerichs , (1) granddaughter; Jessica Kershaw, (1) sister-in-law and close friend; Mary Lou Bartling, (1) sister-in-law; Ruth Bartling, (2) brothers-in-law; Lucas Barnhart, Ben Barnhart and wife, Rita, along with a niece and nephew.
