Marjorie Marie From was born March 23, 1928 to Harold David and Hazel Ione From at the family home north of Chappell, NE. She attended Chappell Schools and graduated in 1944 at the age of 16.
Marj married Kenneth Thompson in Lincoln, NE in 1947. Two girls, Maureen Adele and Cynthia Kay were born to this union. After divorcing Kenneth, Marj returned to Lodgepole where she met Keith Peterson (Pete). They were married in 1951. Pete adopted Renie and Cyndie and was forever known as Daddy. Pete and Marj had 3 more children, Patricia Anne, Katherine Ione and Robert Todd. Pete died in 1964.
The five children were blessed with a new father when Marj married Leonard G. Nelson (Art). He helped raise the kids as his own, especially Todd or Skeeter, as he called him.
Marj attended nursing school and spent her early years working at the hospital in Chappell and later at the Chappell Nursing Home, first as a nurse and later as the Activities Director. She also worked in the offices of Dr. Hartsaw, Dr. Keenan and Dr. Nakamura.
After Marj and Art were married, she started a ceramic shop, first in her home, then in a shop shared with her good friend June Yoder. This allowed her to enjoy her artistic talents. In her later years, Marj worked at the First State Bank in Lodgepole and then for Cabela’s customer service in Sidney.
Marj was an outdoor, country lady. She loved gardening, planting flowers, horse activities with her kids and her numerous dogs.

Marj was an original and strong enough for everyone.

She had a keen wit and no use for rose-colored glasses. If you were lucky enough to be her friend, you knew you had a place in her home.
